Great ride in perfect conditions even if the Altitude boys did drop me in the last few ks - they were desperate not to let Peter Teichert catch them.

We rode down to the toll gate then back up (where's the sense in that i ask?).

Saw Chang on the way down to the toll gate looking very apprehensive then passed Chris Tate not far out of Victor - I was hanging on for dear life at that stage.

Arrived dead on 11 am

10.40am for us Martin. You guys were a little slow I think, that is if you left at 7.30am. We left Piccadilly at 8am and enjoyed a cruise down through the vales and plains of the Peninsular at a considerable speed. But by the time we had exited Hindmarsh Valley Road, my lack of fitness came to the fore and I had to let the bunch go. The last three or four K with quite a few ups and downs tested the weary legs and there were still hundreds of cyclists to pass, but Smokey rode on resolutely and finished a couple of minutes in front and Sarge accompanied me across the line. Spook used the excuse of his cleat breaking to get off and walk on the last climb but over all it was a good ride. Got to admit I was a bit shagged by the time I got home. Didn't feel like doing much other than watching TV for the rest of the day.

I rode up from Glenelg to meet Chang, Smokey, Andy, James and friends. I was happy to stay with the group until the final climb. I was struggling at times and let the others do all the work. Chang waited for me on the final climb when Andy stopped for to take the screws out his cleat. I was tough but I managed to stay with Chang to the finish. Was a good ride and enjoyed a nice lunch at the Anchorage. This made 195km for me for the weekend. The most kms I have done in a weekend this year and 120km Sunday was the longest one day ride for me this year. Not quite the 250 of bright but better than nothing.

David Dawson says:
It was a great ride in perfect conditions and I cant figure why more of the TdA don't put it in the calender as a must do. Doc James rode it with a couple of his mates who came to our gathering point then went to the Stirling start line. Andy's brother in law Adam and mate Mark also joined us and we left a tad before 8:00. I don't think that anyone passed us all day although a couple of guys we picked up on the way had a better legs at the end. Meg left Piccadilly at 7:45 and we didn't catch her until just before the climb up to Willunga and was able to hang on all the way to the climbs on the Hindmarsh Tiers road so she went really well. Mark Pavlic was the strong man on the day and did a lot of work on the front and Andy was also a big contributor. His lack of time on the bike showed once the climbs started in the last 20 k's. Chang surged up the early rises in his usual display of strength but the Saturday ride and the morning climb up to crafers had taken the edge off him by the last climbs. Sarge was quiet all day as a result of being off the bike for a while. Adam, who had never done anything of this length seemed untroubled by the pace and did a few strong turns and was always there when the surges happened. The old adage of "if you can't be fit, be fresh" applied to Smokey who hadn't ridden the day before so had enough in the tank to ride away from the others over the last 5 kms and finish with Mark in 2 hours 41 mins or about 34 kph. It was a great ride and we turned out to have quite a strong group and Meg tells me we were towing some big bunches at different points. Noticeably there was no-one else, other than our core group, who did a turn all day so we must have been going pretty well.

AJ Spook says:
Yes, very enjoyable ride.
I thought we kept together rather well, very unTDA like.
I agree with Chang, was very tired Sunday night, so must have worked pretty well.
We should try and get Adam and mark to become regular Saturday riders.
